April Fools

Today is Grandpa Inouye's birthday. He would have been 92. I think it is so fitting that his birthday was on April Fool's Day as he was such a jokester. Also, Happy Birthday to my brothers Troy and Todd (on the 2nd and 3rd). Today I can say I am grateful for them. In the past...I don't know so much....I keed, I keed.

Well this past weekend we drove up to Washington and back (all in 3 days!) to see my nephew's mission homecoming. Yes, I know many of you are thinking that is insane and you are right. BUT the drive was bearable and it was great to be with family. Thanks Brad & Ally and Keri & Larry (that's right everyone...Larry Bowie). Larry still owes me a strawberry milkshake from Burgerville and a trip to Ikea. Next visit I guess. The highlights of the weekend were:

  • of course, Brandon's talk and even a fireside he gave! Great missionary.

  • Keri's delicious cooking

  • Being with family

  • Having multiple drivers for Mitch (thanks Brad and Ally!)

  • Watching Hunter groove to Jack Johnson

  • Getting 3 of the Final Four teams correct. Dang Tennessee messed everything up. (We had to keep up with March Madness of course)

  • Watching Persuasion (more to come on this later)

  • Getting home safely and sleeping in my own bed!

So...Persuasion. PBS has been showing the Jane Austen collection on Sundays and Keri shared this favorite with us. Has anyone else seen this? I was excited because I have been meaning to watch the other, older version for some time but had never gotten around to it. This was beautiful. I want to buy it. If you haven't seen it....I recommend it (to those who like this movie genre of course). Now I need to get caught up on the rest of the collection...lucky Mitch!!

I liked Persuasion a lot! I thought it was great! The others have been really good too. If you want another good one (maybe you've already seen it), but North and South (2004) about a mill set in England is really well done as well. It is based on the novel by Elizabeth Gaskell. It has Daniela Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage in it. It is great!

Dude, is this like Anne of Green Gables?

Thanks Cary...I will check it out! And no Valynne...I do not think the obsession is quite as bad as Anne of Green Gables. However I guess we will have to find out Mitch's assessment.

Wow...I'll have to watch that one...have you seen North and South? You'll love it if you love Jane Austen. This is Melanie Iverson by the way.

Cool! I've only seen the older version. I didn't know there was a newer version. My life will be incomplete until I watch it..
