An American Girl

Julia Roberts was on Late Show with David Letterman last night to promote one of her upcoming movies she is producing: An American Girl (based on those dolls, books, etc.) I loved those books growing up and ALWAYS wanted a doll. I would get the magazine in the mail and just wish for a doll. I loved "Kirsten" especially because her name was so close to mine. I think I read all of her books. So I told Mitch that I wanted a "Kirsten" doll when I was little. He then smiled his "excited-I-know-something" smile and said "Kirsten Larson....who immigrated from Scandinavia with her family?" I guess Ally had the Kirsten doll which is why he "knew" this...but why he remembered? I don't know.

I am sorry if you are getting tired of these Mitch stories, but I sure don't. He makes me laugh.

I do think it is crazy how popular these dolls STILL are though! They were popular when I was little and now my nieces love them....except now their line has expanded by about 1000%. Not only can you buy the dolls now, but you can buy the table and chairs, bedroom sets, kitchen sets, tea sets, horse and carriage, brushes, jewelry and accessories, matching outfits for the doll and real child, etc. You can also have a doll made special for your child to make it look like your child. I was looking through the magazine with Maile a little while ago though and she said all of the dolls were "ugly" except for the blonde-haired-cheerleader looking ones. So funny. AND just in case you are wondering they still cost an arm and a leg. The bedroom collections are about $200. Is my real bedroom even worth that much?

I loved those books/dolls and I'm pretty sure Mitch did too! He's not fooling us.

I still want the Kirsten doll even though Ally had one. I keep dropping hints to the girls at Christmas but no one seems to get it. I went to the store when I was in Chicago with Keri and I was like a little kid there wanting EVERYTHING!
