A couple of weeks ago mom called me to see if I could go pick grandpa's peach tree as they were ready to be picked. We still haven't sold grandpa's house, but this will probably be the last time we get to pick the tree....so I said sure. Mom gave me 4 large banana boxes to fill, which I didn't really think I would need, but after an hour and a half of picking they were all full and I didn't even get to the top ones on the tree. We waited a few days for them to ripen after which mom canned 28 bottles. There were still 3 boxes left. I went over last Thursday after work and we bottled another 32 bottles and then made 14 batches of peach-pineapple freezer jam!!!! I think it yielded like 75 pint jars or something like that. AND we still had peaches left. We made an executive decision to not use the rest that night. I took a picture and will upload it later. At 1 am I finally convinced mom to go to bed and I trudged on until 2 am! I then had to drive home and crawled into bed at about 2:30 am. I think staying up late took a toll on me over the weekend. I don't think I can look at the peaches for another week or two, but then I think I will be excited to start eating them!

peach-pineapple freezer jam! Could I get a bottle (or two - or do I have to ask your mom?) :)
We ate some of the freezer jam yesterday with dinner - it was soooo good. Mitch does realize that he married a domestic goddess, right? :)
I feel your pain/excitement. I've had many late nights too and I'm not close to being done yet, yeah and ugh!!
Any ideas on what to do with pomegranites in our backyard? Stephanie
i will pay top dollar for canned peaches and freezer jam.... OR lesson on how to make them!

That's too funny. I remember when we would can growing up, i was always the one who put the peaches in the jars since my hands were small enough to fit!
