Happy Marchness

Happy Easter (early)! I am excited because we are attending the annual egg hunt at the Lonsdales on Saturday. It is always fun to watch the kiddies find eggs and spend an afternoon catching up with extended family. I am also hoping to dye easter eggs with the family on Sunday. I was considering making carrot cake but Mitch said that it was too much of a temptation (next week is our last week of Body for Life...until we start again). I do have a really good recipe though if anyone wants it.

I have great memories of easter egg hunts at grandma and grandpa's house. Their yard was huge and it took forever to find all of the eggs. I think sometimes it would be June or July and we would occasionally find a stray egg while playing in the yard. However, I didn't receive my first easter basket until I met Mitch. That is right...we never received them growing up. I didn't even know that it was normal to get an easter basket until I was high school. I asked Sarah where she got all of her candy from and she said it was from her "basket" of course. I told her how lucky she was and the she said, "Kristen, everyone gets easter baskets." I couldn't believe it, but I have since found out that this is in fact true. I told Mitch my sob story when we were dating and he got me a special easter wheelbarrow full of candy that next easter. Lucky me. Actually now that I think about it....Mary Ann and Jeni have given me baskets in the past too...thanks guys! I guess I have to hand it to mom and dad for trying to help us remember the real celebration of Easter Sunday. Okay...good parents.

On another note...March Madness has begun! Yes...I am kind of into it now. It all started last year when I created my very first bracket with Mitch in a competition with the family and we won! Mitch didn't really know who to pick as we got to the final four and so I selected the four teams and the champion team...all of which were correct. Okay, I know it was beginner's luck, but I am hopeful for a repeat champion year! It is much more enjoyable when you are actually rooting for a team to win.

On a final note (sorry this is a long, boring blog...), I am kind of helping with my high school 10 year reunion. CRAZY! What happened? My sister Ashley is 10 years younger than me and we use to always say, "When Ashley graduates from high school, I will almost be 28 years old!" as if it were something SO incomprehensible. And now it is here. Yes I am almost 28 years old and I graduated 10 years ago. And yes, Ashley is already hearing back from colleges! Time flies. Before I know it I will be freaking out because it will be my 20-year reunion...then it will be Ashley's 10-year reunion! Yikes. Okay I am stopping before I scare myself any more.

Hope everyone has a great, sunny, sugar-filled weekend.
