So, every morning we go to the gym at around the same time. What time, you ask? Insanely early...for me anyway. I am always amazed at the other people at the gym who are as crazy as we are to be there when we could be getting another 2 hours of sleep. Anyways...we tend to see the same people doing their usual thing. There is always the same rail-thin girl running when we arrive and still running when we leave (she must be training for a marathon). There is always the same guy on "his" treadmill in his under armour shirts (I think I need one of those shirts). There is always that guy lifting weights that look a little too heavy for him (always gasping for air and veins about to pop out). And then, there is Larry Bowie. Really, we have no idea what his name is, but we have nicknamed him Larry Bowie, because he is a perfect blend between David Bowie and our brother-in-law Larry. It is so wierd. Not wierd because of they way he looks, but wierd how it is starting to feel like we really know and are acquainted with him!
It all started our first morning in the gym when Mitch came up to me with his wide eyes, smiling big. I knew he had something funny to tell me. He told me that David Bowie was in gym. I looked up discreetly and saw him immediately and then realized he looked like Larry too. Mitch then nicknamed him Larry Bowie. You would think it would end there. But every morning we worked out, we would find out something new:
"Oh...Larry Bowie is wearing a BYU shirt. That is good....a BYU fan."
"I heard Larry Bowie talking about temples. He is a religious person."
When he wasn't at the gym, we noticed that too: "Oh...Larry Bowie wasn't there today..."
At half-time of the BYU basketball game we went to, I glanced at those really good "half-court floor" seats and there was Larry Bowie! I got all excited and told Mitch, and now we wonder where he works to get good seats like that. I was initially trying to convince Mitch to talk to him, but he wouldn't. And, now that I have thought about it, it would probably ruin our fun. I would hate to find out that he is any different than we have imagined him to be. He will always be our friend at a distance, reassuring us with his presence at Gold's.
On a final Larry Bowie note, I would like to think we are not psycho-stalkers, but probably just bored and pathetic. I think we do what we have to to add to the dullness of our morning routine.
Can I just say that I am seriously struggling with the Daylight Savings switch? I have been so exhausted. My body needs to adjust as it feels like 4 am instead of 5 am. 5 am was bad enough! We get up early so that we can workout and eat breakfast before Mitch has to leave for school. I will admit that today after he left for school, I showered and crawled back into bed for an hour nap! Ah the joys of a flexible work schedule. I know that all of you with kids are thinking "Just wait until you have kids, ha, ha."
