Mitch and I have been married for over 2 years....and in that time Mitch has always worked at night (so he could go to school in the day). This has left me alone every weeknight since the beginning. Most people feel bad and invite me to things so I won't feel lonely...but I think I have just been used to it and actually stay quite busy. Lonely? I don't think so. I am a home-body anyway and enjoy being alone. I think Mitch finds this characteristic about me unusual (especially because he loves being around people and in social situations). I tell him I get it from my dad. Now before you think I don't like being around people or hanging out with friends...I do love being with family and friends...I just don't have the need for it on a daily basis.
Anyways, Mitch decided that it was time to change his work schedule around for a new and better position. He now works 9-5:30 (for the summertime at least). I actually have a husband at night now!! It has been fun, but kind of wierd. He started the new schedule on Monday and when he got home he had all of these plans for us in the evening...but I have my evening routine!! This is the sum of our conversation:
Mitch: Let's go for an evening jog!
Kristen: Really?
Mitch: Yeah, it will be so nice. And then maybe the sauna after?
Kristen: Um...what about a brisk walk? We already exercised this morning, and we are running tomorrow morning.
Mitch: No..it will be easy, c'mon.
Kristen: Hmmmm. I don't really like running after I've eaten.
(break in the conversation for an hour or two)
Mitch: So are we going running?
Kristen: Yeah...about that...
We ended up relaxing on the couch and going to bed by 9! We've quickly fit the mold of a boring semi-newly-wed couple...and I love it! We've been able to go to bed so much earlier this whole week and we are even doing a date night on a weeknight. This is going to be great. Maybe now we will only need to schedule hanging out with friends 3 weeks in advance instead of 6 weeks!
