Camping

My family is going camping this weekend for the long weekend. I am sure this doesn't sound too unusual to anyone, however my family is NOT a camping family and so this is an event to go down in history for us. In high school I did love to hike, backpack and do that type of camping...but that was just me (and my friends)...not the family. Growing up we never went camping. I have one memory of camping with my family with the Watabes a long time ago. We did go to the Heber Valley campsite a couple of years ago...but that had cabins, showers, bathrooms, nice pavilions, provided a stove with gas, etc....so I won't count that.

Okay, so Mary Ann rented a campsite up Spanish Fork canyon and we had a family meeting to discuss logistics. I think everyone thought it was hilarious that we don't really have any idea what we are doing. We were talking about food and no one has any idea what pans to use and take up because we don't have a portable stove. I think someone asked if there were plugs so we could plug in a griddle. I guess we are going to try and make everything over the campfire....oh and we need to bring firewood? Valynne supposedly has a tent that fits like 50 people, but I don't know if she has ever used it. We are going to need to borrow camping sleeping pads, etc from people. Fortunately Mitch and I have sleeping bags that we got from our wedding! It will be the first time using them for camping rather than makeshift bedding for our visitors.

Anyways I guess I posted this to proclaim a little anxiety mixed with excitement for an adventure with my family. I don't know what to expect but I am sure we will have fun even if we live off eating chips and sitting in the car when it rains. I am hoping this will be good preparation for girl's camp this August.
