The Phantom Moves to Coney Island?

I just read this article on msn:

http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=435557&GT1=28102

It is about how Andrew Lloyd Webber is making a sequel to Phantom of the Opera. At first I was excited because I never liked the way the broadway ends. Actually the whole storyline disturbs me, but I really like the music.

My initial excitement changed quickly as I read how in the sequel the phantom moves from the Paris opera house to Coney Island. Is this bizarre to anyone else? I just laughed and laughed.

However, maybe I am biased because the first and last time I went there was when I was in New York to babysit my niece Malaea. We took the subway to visit the aquarium which is at Coney Island. My first impression: "Yikes. This is coney island? This place is so dirty and rundown." Even though it was winter and closed down, it was enough to make me not really want to go back. The aquarium was nice though. AND maybe I am wrong. Maybe in the summer it transforms into a magical place where the phantom would want to live...

Coney Island seriously?

Maybe the Phantom falls on hard times and has to move to Coney Island to get back on his feet by selling opera lessons to the towns children (ala The Music Man) and then in the end Christine shows up and they adopt a child together.

I would pay to see that. Powerful.

Nope....even in the summer it's a poop hole. It's like a permanent Joe Dirt Carnival. Trust me. Google "Shoot the Freak and Coney Island" and see for yourself.
